The destination campsite lies at the base of Lone Indian Peak in Heavenly Meadows on the North Fork of Buffalo Horn Creek, a tributary of the Gallatin River. Situated in the heart of prime wildlife habitat, this area is bordered on the south by Yellowstone National Park and on the north by Porcupine wildlife wintering range. The area is roadless with high mountain basins interspersed with timber at elevations of 7,000 to 10,000 feet.
